A Discussion on Title IX

A Discussion on Title IX

The Penn State Roundtable on Sports and Society presents A Discussion on Title IX with Deborah Brake, Distinguished Faculty Scholar and professor of law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and Sandy Barbour, director of athletics at Penn State

Brake is one of the nation’s leading experts on Title IX. Formerly senior counsel at the National Women’s Law Center in Washington, D.C., she has written extensively on Title IX as well as on broader issues of equality.

Prior to being named Penn State's athletic director, Barbour served in athletic administration at Northwestern, Tulane, Notre Dame, and the University of California. As a student-athlete, she played varsity basketball and field hockey for Wake Forest.

This event is part of the Penn State Roundtable on Sports and Society's yearlong speaker series on The Role of Sports in Social Transformation. It is free and open to the public.

The Penn State Roundtable on Sports and Society is a cross-campus collaboration bringing together faculty from a variety of disciplines at Penn State together with the Institute for Sports Law, Policy and Research at Penn State Law, the Center for Sports Business & Research in the Smeal College of Business, and the Curley Center for Sports Journalism in the College of Communications.
