Professor Paul Whitehead joined Penn State Law to teach and research in the fields of labor, employment, and benefits law. Prior to joining the Law School, Professor Whitehead was general counsel of the United Steelworkers from 2001 through 2009. Before that, Professor Whitehead worked for more than 20 years to bring the voice of labor to trade disputes, company restructurings, and the design of benefit programs.
Professor Whitehead serves as one of five trustees to the AFL-CIO Mutual Benefit Fund, which offers a variety of insurance and other services to the 14 million members of unions affiliated with the AFL-CIO. He frequently speaks on the subjects of employee and retiree benefit programs.
Professor Whitehead teaches the law of employee benefits.
