Courses with Special Enrollment Criteria

  • Before you register for Independent Study (PERSP 996), you must obtain approval for an independent study project from a law faculty member who agrees to supervise your project.  When you have identified your supervising faculty member you are responsible for e-mailing the law school Registrar with the faculty member’s name.
  • International Financial Law Seminar (SEM 948) with Professor Tridimas: Due to Professor Tridimas teaching this course from a distance, for J.D. students admitted Fall 2015 and after, these credits will be applied against the 15 credit maximum allowed for distance education by the American Bar Association (ABA) . See ABA Standard 306(e).

  • Business and Financial Concepts (CCLAW 997) with Professors’ Sharbaugh and Reilly:

    • This one credit course evaluated on a credit/no credit basis is open to 3L students at University Park and Carlisle, and Penn State Law 1L, 2L and LL.M. students.  It meets for twelve hours over three sessions at the beginning of the semester:  Saturday January 14th – 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Friday January 20th 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  and Saturday January 21st 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (with breaks).  Attendance at each session each day is required to earn credit for the course.  Results (credit/no credit) will be reported in the ordinary grade reporting period at the end of the semester, after the end of the drop add period, and after it is too late to add another course. Students should plan to meet the minimum credits for graduation requirement without relying on credit for this course.

      How to enroll:  2L and 3L JD and LLM students must enroll via LionPATH. Penn State Law 1L students must request enrollment via the 1L Enrollment Request for Business and Financial Concepts (CCLAW997) web form.  Your Class Schedule on LionPATH will show “BY APPT” for this course. Class meeting days and times are above.  Enrollment is required no later than Friday, January 13th at 11:59 p.m. 

      How to drop:  This course begins after the drop/add period, ends. Therefore, if you want to drop the course after you enroll, you must do so before Friday January 13th at 11:59 p.m.   2L and 3L JD and LLM students should drop via LionPATH.  1L requests to drop should be sent to registrar@pennstatelaw.psu.edu .  All special requests to drop after January 13th are subject to approval by the Associate Dean under the Drop/Add rules.

  • Civil Liberties Litigation (CLCR 997) with Professor Senoff: has been removed from the schedule of classes due to low enrollment.
  • Evidence (SKILS 955) with Professor McKenna: has been removed from the Pass/Fail course list.
  • Veteran's Law (PERSP 997) with Professor Greenberghas been removed from the schedule of classes due to the professor being unavailable to teach.
