The Appeal Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia upheld the 2009 conviction of Milan and Sredoje Lukic for war crimes and crimes against humanity, a conviction pursued by Dermot Groome, senior ICTY Prosecutor and member of the Penn State Law faculty.
The men, who are cousins, were members of a paramilitary group responsible for killing civilians from 1992-95 in Visegrad, an eastern Bosnian town. Read more.
In addition to prosecuting cases at ICTY, Professor Groome also supervises internships for Penn State Law students. Earlier this year, Katie Pohl '12 and Vlad Korolov, a joint JD/SIA student, took part in the International Justice Externship Program at The Hague.
