Professor McKenna to speak at DC Bar event May 6


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Law adjunct professor Anne McKenna will speak next month at a D.C. Bar event in Washington, D.C., on how the Internet, smartphones, and social media have changed the tort law landscape.

Revenge Porn, Bullies -n-Trolls, Sexting, and Other Torts in Cyberspace” is scheduled for 12 to 2 p.m. on May 6 at the D.C. Bar Conference Center in Washington and will be streamed online (registration fee required).

Joining McKenna in the discussion will be Steve Stern, co-founder of Safe Harbor Discovery, LLC., an electronic discovery consulting and service provider. The session will be moderated by Lawrence Eiser, senior trial counsel for the United States Department of Justice Civil Division, Torts Branch.

The panel will discuss defense and prosecution of individuals in cyber torts, limiting and establishing liability for businesses in cyber torts, and insurance coverage for online acts. They will also address information security, evidence preservation, and computer forensics.

McKenna is a partner at the law firm of Silverman/Thompson/Slutkin/White (STSW), where she chairs STSW’s Cyberlaw Group, SilverMcKenna. She is a nationally recognized attorney and author in cyber law, privacy law, and cellular law with two decades of experience representing businesses, individuals, and educational clients in every aspect of electronic surveillance, Internet, computer, cellular, online content, data practices, and privacy issues.
