Classroom dynamo Richard Alley will visit the School of International Affairs to speak on climate change on January 19. Dr. Alley is the Evan Pugh Professor of Geosciences in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences and an expert in polar ice.  
Marcellus Shale, the largest unconventional natural gas reserve in the world, is widely viewed as the bridge fuel between fossil fuels and new energy alternatives. Recent interest in Marcellus Shale formation in the Commonwealth has dramatically increased natural gas extraction, and created expectations of positive economic growth among Pennsylvanians. This increased development raises a number of important legal and policy issues, including environmental, economic and land use concerns.
At the request of the Pennsylvania Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, Ross Pifer, director of Penn State Law's Agricultural Law Resource and Reference Center, testified at a hearing on the transparency of milk pricing. The hearing was held on Wednesday, December 9, at 1:00 p.m. in Hearing Room 1 of the North Office Building, Main Capitol Building.
