How to Apply


Penn State Law in University Park is excited to announce a
$5,000 scholarship opportunity for students who are accepted into the
Master of Legal Studies (MLS) Program.

Additional merit-based scholarships may be available.

Students must apply by April 30, 2021. No additional application materials are necessary to be considered for the scholarship.


For accelerated consideration for Fall 2021, U.S. resident applicants need only submit the application form, copies of all transcripts (either unofficial or official), and a résumé or CV. Upon conditional admission, additional materials, such as official transcripts, can be submitted at a later date. If opting for accelerated admission, please indicate this in the subject line of your emailed application.

Applicants to the MLS and CLS programs should submit their application materials directly to A copy of the application form can be downloaded here. The applicant’s personal statement, any additional statements or addenda, and résumé or summary of work experiences and/or activities should be included with the application form.

Letters of recommendation must be sent directly from the recommenders to Official transcripts should also be sent directly from the institution to the same address. Letters of recommendation or transcripts sent by the applicant will not be accepted.

The following materials must be submitted to be considered for admission:

  • a complete Penn State Law application
  • a personal statement
  • official transcripts 
  • a résumé or overview of the student’s academic and professional experience
  • two letters of recommendation from academic or professional contacts (letters from family members or members of the legal profession who have not worked with the applicant in a professional or academic context will not be accepted), and
  • a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score (for foreign-educated students only).

*All application fees have been waived for Fall 2021 admission.

Decisions are made on a rolling basis, but to ensure consideration for all scholarship opportunities, applications should be submitted by April 30, 2021.
