Mandy Star an officer with the Indiannapolis Police Department, was not on duty on Thursday evening June 22, 1995 when she witnessed a van driven by Harold Hall, run a red light and collide with a car, operated by Gary Bridge.

Bridges car skidded off of the roadway and down a hill; wedging itself between a large rock and a wooden fence. Bridge was unconscious.  Star apprehended Hall as he attempted to flee, and turned him over to uninformed police officers who had been pursuing Hall.

Star sustained a broken arm and a dislocated shoulder.  She remained in the hospital for several weeks, when she returned to work she was removed from active duty by her superior officer.  She still has nightmares and frequent panic attacks.
