Penn State Law Student Selected as Winner of PBA Intellectual Property Writing Contest

HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 9, 2023) — The Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Intellectual Property Law Section selected Austin W. Robinson, third-year student at Penn State Law, as the winner of the section’s 2023 Intellectual Property Law Section Writing Contest.

The Intellectual Property Law Section Writing Contest was established in 2004 to provide an opportunity for law students to express in writing their insight and knowledge in the areas of patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets or trade dress. The annual competition is open to all law students enrolled in any law school in the United States who intend to take the Pennsylvania bar exam. Submissions must be the unpublished and original creation of the entrant.

­­Active at Penn State Law, Robinson is president and founder of the Intellectual Property Law Association, secretary of the Corporate Law Society and mentor in the Phi Delta Legal Honor Society. He is also a student representative for Kaplan Bar. Robinson received the CALI Award for the highest grade in the Introduction to Intellectual Property course.

This year, Robinson plans to be a summer associate at GTC Law Group PC in Westwood, Massachusetts. Previously, he was a legal intern at Minitab LLC in State College and a law clerk at Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak in State College. He also completed a federal judicial externship for U.S. Magistrate Judge William I. Arbuckle, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania, in Williamsport.

Robinson earned his B.S. in criminology with a focus on business/public administration from The Pennsylvania State University.
