Trump's executive order could be stopped before going into effect

STATE COLLEGE -- A 90-day ban of new visas for citizens of six Muslim majority countries will be enforced starting tonight at midnight.

After having his first immigration executive order from Jan. 27 revised, President Donald Trump plans on having the ban go into effect on March 16.

Professor Shoba Wadhia has worked in the immigration field for almost 20 years. In 2008, she came to Penn State to start the center for immigration rights clinic.

Wadhia says there are a couple of hearings are going on in the courts today, which could possibly change the order before 12:01 a.m.

"Possibly some or all of the executive orders could be blocked before implementation depending on what the judges decide," Wadhia said.

She said people are bracing for what is to come.

"In any case there will be what I believe is chaos and confusion once again when midnight hour strikes,” Wadhia said. “There are attorneys and advocates who are already on the ground, at the airports, at their law offices, determining what the next steps are.”

Citizens of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen who are looking to travel to the United States will be affected by this 90-day ban.
