The main goal of the OAS is to develop and deliver programs to promote the academic success of J.D. students from matriculation, during law school, and as they prepare to enter the legal profession. This includes programming and support for students during orientation, the three years of law school, and for the bar exam.

Dean Elkin works with students individually as well as in small and large group settings to improve various academic skills, such as written legal analysis, exam taking, and time management. He provides feedback to students on practice exams, exercises, and other writing throughout their law school career. He also advises students on issues related to registration, academic progress, and bar administration.

Dean Elkin teaches Higher Education Law Practice each Fall and Fundamental Skills for the Bar Examination each Spring. He is the author of several books and articles on bar exam preparation.
