Governor Tom Corbett has nominated Judge Correale Stevens, currently president judge of the Pennsylvania Superior Court, to serve on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Two-thirds approval of the Pennsylvania Senate will be required for his confirmation.
Judge Stevens served four consecutive terms in the state House of Representatives and worked as Luzerne County's district attorney. He was elected to the Superior Court, which hears criminal and civil appeals, in 1997 and began a five-year term as president judge in 2011.
He is a graduate of Penn State University and The Dickinson School of Law, where he was associate editor of the Dickinson Law Review. Judge Stevens also shares his knowledge with the next group of Penn Staters, teaching criminal justice and American government at Penn State Hazleton.
