Penn State Law student receives Energy & Mineral Law Foundation scholarship

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Grant Martin, a third-year law student at Penn State Law, was recently awarded the Sean Cassidy Scholarship by the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF), as part of its annual scholarship awards given to students attending EMLF member law schools.

Martin is a 2014 graduate of Penn State, where he earned his bachelor of science in Energy, Business, and Finance. His interest in energy law was fueled by the Marcellus Shale boom in Pennsylvania. At Penn State Law, as a member of the editorial board of the Penn State Law Review, Martin wrote his comments about oil and gas law issue, and the comment is pending publication. Martin is also involved with the Agricultural and Oil & Gas Law Society at Penn State Law. Upon graduation, he will be joining Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP as an associate in the law firm’s Finance, Energy, and Real Estate group.

"I hope to continue to research energy and natural resources law, make more connections in the industry, and provide meaningful progress in the development of oil and gas law in the Marcellus and Utica regions,” Martin said of his future career.

EMLF is a national nonprofit educational organization that fosters the study of the laws and regulations related to natural resource development and energy use. This year’s EMLF Law Student Scholarships totaled $30,000, with 11 students sharing in the proceeds.
