Professor Catherine Rogers helps build capacity for ADR in Singapore

Professor Catherine Rogers is a founding faculty member on the newly launched Singapore International Arbitration Academy. Established this year by the Centre for International Law and the National University of Singapore, the academy trains private sector and public sector lawyers and officials from Singapore, the ASEAN member states, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, New Zealand, Spain, and Tanzania in an effort to build capacity in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration in the Asia-Pacific region.
In its first year the three-week program has 44 participants from 14 countries, including the Philippines, India, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Professor Rogers taught or presented on panels concerning ethics and conflicts, expert evidence, and arbitrator selection procedures and related ethical issues.
At Penn State Law Professor Rogers teaches international arbitration and professional ethics, and writes on topics at the intersection of the two areas. Professor Rogers has taught, lectured and published extensively on these topics around the world, including as an invited participant at two Stanford-Yale Junior Faculty Fora. Her forthcoming book, Ethics in International Arbitration, will be published in 2013 by Oxford University Press. Prior to her academic career she practiced international law in New York, Hong Kong, and San Francisco.
