UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – With a much-anticipated U.S. presidential election less than two weeks away, Penn State Law Professor Samuel C. Thompson Jr. presents an introduction to his new book, Biden vs. Trump, Voter’s Guide on Economics. The presentation, which follows the chapters of his book, is available free on Penn State Law’s YouTube channel.
Thompson’s presentation is based on his self-published, 500+ page book, Biden vs. Trump, Voter’s Guide on Economics, which is available through Amazon.com both in paperback and Kindle. The book, written for the average voter, incorporates a discussion of many of the economic positions of the 2020 presidential candidates, former Vice President Joe Biden for the Democrats and President Donald Trump for the Republicans. Throughout the book, the term “BvT,” which means Biden vs. Trump, is used to indicate that the section addresses the positions of Biden and Trump on the issue. Viewers are encouraged to use the supplemental graphs and script to follow along with the presentation, and to listen to Thompson's recent interview with Wisconsin Public Radio.
The book also presents “Sam’s Take” on many of the issues discussed; and, throughout the book, there are discussions of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on economic growth. The main purpose of the book is to educate the voter on important fundamental economic issues, and the positions of Trump and Biden on many of those issues.
Thompson is a professor of law, the Arthur Weiss Distinguished Faculty Scholar, and the director of the Center for the Study of Mergers and Acquisitions at Penn State Law in University Park. An expert on tax and merger and acquisition law, Thompson teaches the corporate, securities, tax, and antitrust aspects of mergers and acquisitions as well as international tax and taxation of business entities.
