University Park, Pa. — Rain or shine, prepare to pound the pavement on the morning of Saturday, October 31 by participating in the Penn State University, Dickinson School of Law 5K Race Judicata to raise funds for the Law School’s Public Interest Law Fund (PILF). The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is open to Law School students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends of the Penn State community. Leashed dogs are welcome, too.
Established by law students in the fall of 1990, the Public Interest Law Fund is dedicated to promoting student interest and community involvement in the field of public interest law. Runners and walkers alike are encouraged to come out and show their support for PILF.
"By holding the 5K race twice a year, we hope to increase participation to promote the importance of public interest law," said race coordinator David Rasmussen, a third-year law student. The race will be held in University Park during the fall and in Carlisle during the spring.
The race course will begin and end at the Lewis Katz Building located on Bigler Road, just north of the intersection of Bigler and Park Avenue in State College. On the day of the race, all participants are asked to check in at the start/finish point between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
Interested runners and walkers can complete and submit the online race form or download, complete and mail a copy of the registration form to Office of Student Services, Attention: Race Judicata, Penn State University, The Dickinson School of Law, 105 Lewis Katz Building, University Park, PA 16802. The $15 entry fee ($20 for entries received after the October 1 priority deadline), which includes a free t-shirt, will directly benefit PILF. Registration by October 1 is recommended; those who register after that date or on race day cannot be guaranteed a commemorative race t-shirt.
