School of International Affairs joins Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs

The Penn State School of International Affairs (SIA) has obtained affiliate membership status in the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA). “Our organization promotes excellence in professional, international affairs education worldwide, said Leigh Morris Sloane, executive director of APSIA. “We are pleased to see the establishment of a new school and welcome Penn State into the fold.”

APSIA conducted a rigorous review of the school’s curriculum, academic resources, faculty, parent institution, and other attributes before extending affiliate status to the School of International Affairs.

“We are delighted to see the School of International Affairs join this prestigious group of schools. Our participation in APSIA affirms our commitment to providing our students with a top-notch education and readiness to participate meaningfully in the international affairs arena,” said Tiyanjana Maluwa, director of the School of International Affairs and the H. Laddie Montague Chair in Law at Penn State University, The Dickinson School of Law. 

The Penn State School of International Affairs is closely linked to the Law School, sharing both academic and administrative resources, and presents unique opportunities for interdisciplinary study. Established in 2007, the School of International Affairs awards master’s degrees in international affairs and features a faculty of world-renowned scholars, as well as former ambassadors and senior diplomats. Its first students and graduates have landed internships and positions in the United States, Germany, Israel, Nigeria, Kenya, France, Tanzania, and Qatar.
