Seventh Annual Institute to prepare participants for the M&A resurgence

New Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice merger guidelines that outline how federal antitrust agencies evaluate the likely competitive impact of mergers and acquisitions and whether those mergers comply with U.S. antitrust law will be among the topics explored at the Seventh Annual Institute on Corporate, Securities, and Related Aspects of Mergers and Acquisitions on October 7 and 8 at the New York City Bar.

“The August 2010 revision of the DOJ and FTC 1992 Horizontal Merger Guidelines is one of the most significant recent developments in antitrust, and we are fortunate to have the head of the DOJ's Antitrust Division, Christine Varney, as our keynote speaker on Thursday afternoon," said Professor Samuel Thompson Jr., director of Penn State’s Center for the Study of Mergers and Acquisitions and Penn State Law professor.

“This Institute brings together many of finest financial and legal experts in the world who will offer new perspectives and in-depth analyses on cutting-edge practices in mergers and acquisitions law,” said Thompson.
