What made you apply to Penn State Law?
I went to Penn State for undergrad and knew I wanted to spend three more years in happy valley. There are so many great qualities about the university: the alumni network, the impressive teaching staff, and the community itself.

If you were talking to a pre-law student, how would you describe your first semester at Penn State Law?
It has been a tough journey. The first semester is terrifying, but you have to always remember what brought you here and keep going. It gets better, don’t worry, just keep yourself motivated.

How different has law school been in reality vs. what your expectations were?
You have more free time than you think! When I was going into law school, I thought I would have zero free time to do anything. Finding the balance for everything comes with time, but you will still have time to do things you want to do. Also, cold calling isn’t as scary as you think! The professor’s want to challenge you, but for the most part they help you through this experience.

Are you involved in any student clubs, orgs., etc. that enhanced your Penn State Law experience? If so, in what ways have they enhanced your experience?
I am involved in Phi Delta Phi and I am the 1L representative for Penn State Law benefitting THON. PDP is a great way to meet 2L and 3L students and learn more about their experience throughout their first year. This also helps you gather impressive outlines, which you use to study for your finals, early in the semester to begin preparing. PDP has a lot of fun events to socialize and meet new people. Penn State Law benefitting THON is an incredible organization. Throughout the year, we hold fundraisers and raise money to aid in finding a cure for cancer. Some fundraisers we held this past year included a pie throwing contest, welcome back baskets, and a spaghetti dinner. In the spring semester, we end in a 46-hour dance marathon celebrating with THON families. This enhanced my experience in law school because it made me part of something bigger than school. FTK.

Did you get an internship?  If so, how do you think PSL prepared you for it?
Yes this summer I will be interning at the Lancaster County District Attorney’s office. Career Services does an excellent job of sending emails with updated information on new jobs offered. In addition, the mock interviews are extremely helpful. Sharon helped ease my nerves for the actual interview and prepared me well with questions to answer.

Where’s your favorite place to go outside of Penn State Law on the University Park Campus?
Old Main or the Arboretum.

What do you like to do when you’re not studying?
Play guitar, sing, hang out with my friends, walk my dog (his name is Bolt, and he looks just like the dog from the movie, Bolt!)
