The Penn State Law Pre-Moot

Each year, Penn State Law plays host to the annual Penn State Law Pre-Moot, the unofficial kickoff for the Vis Moot advocacy season in North America. The 2017 Penn State Law Pre-Moot for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot will be held on February 4, 2017, at Penn State Law, located in the Lewis Katz Building on Penn State's University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania.

As one of the first formally organized pre-moots of the season, the Penn State Law pre-moot is one of the earliest chances these teams have to test their skills and arguments against top teams from the U.S. and Canada. Each year, the Penn State Law Pre-Moot also welcomes a growing number of world-class arbitrators and professors to challenge the teams.

The daylong event will include competitive rounds with expert mock arbitrators from around the world. Depending on the number of registrants, teams will likely be able to argue in more than one round during the day. Registration also includes a light breakfast, lunch, and an authentic Viennese dinner from a local Austrian bistro.

After dinner, a panel of veteran Vis coaches and preeminent international arbitration scholars will discuss and debate "Tips for Winning at the Vis Moot." Later in the evening, advocacy teams can test their skills in another forum at the Fourth Annual Petra Butler Bowling Tournament (bowling fees not included in registration fee). See the draft agenda below for additional details.

Check back on this page for information about hotel accommodations.

To attend the Penn State Law Premoot, please register online. The registration fee of $25 per person is payable online at the time of registration.
