2020 Virtual Commencement

2020 Virtual Commencement

Due to the extraordinary events that have befallen the school, the country and, indeed, the world, Penn State – like universities around the country – has had to make the hard decision that the typical live, in-person commencement event on May 16th is not an option and therefore Penn State Law will hold a virtual commencement ceremony to honor the class of 2020 on May 16, beginning at 10:30 a.m.  The University made the decision to hold a virtual commencement this spring, followed by a physical celebration when it is safe to do so, in order to acknowledge this important milestone and confer degrees upon spring graduates. The virtual spring event is critical to mark the completion of students' legal education, recognize the accomplishment, and confer upon each graduate the degrees they have worked so hard to earn.

Scheduled Commencement Speaker, The Honorable D. Brooks Smith, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, will address the audience, and two members of the graduating class – one J.D. student and one LL.M. student – will also make remarks. Each graduate will be recognized by name, and degrees will be conferred by senior University officials.

Penn State Law is arranging to purchase for each graduate – at no cost to them – the Penn State Law hood, as well as the tam and tassel. There will also be options for students who wish to purchase a gown.

The commencement live stream will be available at http://psl2020.commencement.psu.edu/.
