A Briefing with Black Leaders: A Conversation with Black Women Who Serve As Law School Deans is an open and authentic conversation with Black women who are trailblazers in academia and the legal profession. Less than 2% of attorneys are black women, and 14% of ABA-accredited law schools have Black women as Deans. This conversation will explore the benefits of having Black women in academic and legal spaces and the challenges experienced by Black women in these spaces. The panelists will share their personal experiences and offer advice on how to navigate a profession that has so few Black women.
The speakers are Dean Camille Davidson, of Southern Illinois University School of Law; Dean Renee Hutchins, of the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law; Dean Danielle Conway, of Penn State University Dickinson School of Law; and Dean Browne Lewis, of the North Carolina Central University School of Law.
There will be two moderated portions. The first portion of the event will be a panel discussion, and the remaining half hour will allow the audience the opportunity to ask questions using the "raise hand" feature in Zoom, with the moderator directing those questions.
