Careers in the Law

Careers in the Law is a new event for Penn State Law, designed to allow students to learn more about various practice areas by speaking with alumni and friends of Penn State who have a variety of experience in various practice areas.

5:30 - 6:00 p.m. Registration
6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Information Fair
7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Networking Reception                              

 

 


During the Information Fair portion of the event, the atrium of the Katz Building will be filled with tables, one for each practice area, with alumni and friends who work, or have worked, in each practice area. There will also be tables for individual law firms. Law students will visit the tables to learn more about the practice areas and law firms in attendance. Students are not permitted to bring resumes, however, they are encouraged to exchange business cards or contact information with the alumni, friends, and firms in attendance.

A networking reception will follow the information fair at 7:30 p.m.

Alumni, friends, and law firms are invited to register for the event online.

As many participants will be traveling a considerable distance for Careers in the Law, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations has put together programming for Saturday. If you choose to stay in town, below is a list of activities that await you.

8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Continental Breakfast
8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

4 hours of CLE, including 1 hour of ethics,
presented by Mike Finnegan:
9/11 and Beyond: Legal Implications of Terrorism in America

12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Tailgate-style Lunch                         
2:00 p.m. Penn State Baseball game against Ohio State

 

 

 

 

 

 

Please be sure to register for each of the above activities as appropriate.

A block of rooms has been reserved for April 7 and 8 at the Country Inn & Suites by Carlson, located at 1357 East College Avenue in State College. To reserve a room, please call 814-234-6000 and reference the Careers in the Law room block. The room rate is $98 per night and the block is reserved until March 24.
