J.D. Credit for Study Abroad

Penn State Law exchange students will typically take a 12 credit course load at FGV. FGV credits are equivalent to Penn State Law credits.

  • FGV professors typically teach 2 courses as block courses (2 months long) for thirty (30) credit hours each, corresponding to two (2) FGV classroom credits and lectured by FGV Professors. FGV also offers short courses taught by foreign professors from institutions that are partners of FGV. The short duration courses are taught for fifteen (15) credit hours, corresponding to one (1) classroom credit.
     
  • Students generally take 2 courses in each block (4 credits per block and 8 credits per semester) and 4 short term intensive courses (4 credits for 4 short term courses).

  • Penn State Law exchange students will be awarded 12 credits towards their J.D. degree for courses taken at FGV.
     
  • Students enrolled at FGV in the fall semester will receive Penn State credit for the fall semester. Credits earned at FGV in the spring semester will be recorded as spring semester credit at Penn State.
