Program Dates and Academic Calendar

Program

Pursuant to the Exchange Agreement between The Penn State University Dickinson School of Law (Penn State Law) and Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), up to two (2) Penn State Law students per academic year may study at FGV for one academic semester, either in the spring semester or the fall semester.


Semesters

Fall Spring
Early August — Mid December
Blocks 3 and 4

Mid February — Late June

Blocks 1 and 2


FGV operates on a semester-based system. Each semester is divided into 2 “Blocks” and the academic calendar for the courses based on Blocks is as follows:

Block 1: From February to April;
Block 2: From May to June;
Block 3: From August to September; and
Block 4: From October to December.

In each Block, FGV offers short-term courses (15 hours of intensive instruction) in addition to regular courses (30 hours of instruction).

Penn State Law exchange students are asked to arrive no later than seven days before school starts so that they can participate in an orientation session prepared by FGV.
