Monday, October 9

Building a Better Budget
4:30-5:30 p.m.

Budgeting is the fundamental step in achieving financial literacy, and by extension, reaching financial security and freedom.  Learn about concepts of income and expenses, analyze spending habits, and establish SMART financial goals.

Presented by the Penn State Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center.


Tuesday, October 10 (Law Student Mental Health Day)

Inspiration: We All Have a Carfax Watch Party

Come support and watch Penn State Law student Avery McLean (President, Mindfulness in Law Society and SBA Chair, Mental Health & Wellness Committee) serve as a panelist.  The panel will address mental health and substance use challenges and the importance of asking for support.  The goal of this program is to break down barriers, melt away stigmas, and normalize 'the ask' for help.

Presented by the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University and Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers of Pennsylvania.

Reed Smith: Law Student Mental Health Summit

The summit will offer an opportunity for law school students, faculty and administrators to hear from leading mental health experts, legal industry professionals and peers about the unique stressors that can endanger law students’ mental health – and protective steps we can take individually and collectively.  Registration is free and available here.

CAPS Chat provides informal, drop-in consultation for students with counselors from Penn State CAPS.  Meetings are free and no call to CAPS is necessary; same day scheduling is available online from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for both virtual and in-person meetings! Timeslots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Meetings are no longer than 30 minutes. Find out more information and schedule here.

Stop by the destress event if you are looking for a way to reduce stress and improve overall well-being. This event will be a fun, interactive opportunity for students to take a break and learn about mindfulness, stress management, and sleep.

The event will feature hands-on stations where students can engage in a range of relaxing activities, including:

  • Learn strategies to manage stress and improve sleep quality
  • Color in a mindfulness coloring book
  • Create an aromatherapy stress ball
  • Set a mindful intention
