UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The national law firm Dickie McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. has committed $50,000 over five years for an annual scholarship to Penn State Law in University Park.

The Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote Penn State Law Diversity Scholarship will provide tuition support for a first-year law student whose gender, race, ethnic, cultural, and/or national background contribute to the diversity of the student body. A summer clerkship with the firm will also be awarded to the scholarship recipient.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Penn State Law to support the dedication and perseverance of those students from diverse backgrounds who have committed themselves to the pursuit of a career in the legal profession,” said John C. Conti, President and CEO of Dickie McCamey.

The final agreement and announcement of the scholarship comes at a time when Penn State Law is putting forth concrete action steps to address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This scholarship aids that effort by providing access not only to legal education, but to career development as well. The addition of the summer clerkship makes the scholarship even more impactful and can be a model for future gifts.

“We are so grateful to Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. for the creation of this fund. At this incredibly painful moment in our country, it is clear that we need to collaborate to change society. This gift is an important commitment to making a meaningful difference in diversifying the profession. We are excited about the opportunities this fund provides for our Penn State Law students from traditionally underrepresented groups and about continuing to build our partnership,” said Hari M. Osofsky, Dean of Penn State Law.
