Law School Clinician presents to medical community on school attendance

In February of 2012, Kate Lawrence was invited to speak at the Hershey Medical Center Grand Rounds to address physicians and other health care professionals on the topic of truancy. Ms. Lawrence outlined the multiple systems impacting school attendance including the legal, educational, and social services responses to poor school attendance. Her lecture approached the difficulties faced by children and families from an interdisciplinary perspective and highlighted how the medical community’s decision making can assist or hinder the various judicial and education programs in their attempt to respond to needs of children and families in school settings.
