Professor Rogers appointed to global Academic Forum in international dispute settlement

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Geneva Center for International Dispute Settlement (CIDS) has appointed Penn State Law professor Catherine A. Rogers to its new Academic Forum on Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS).

The CIDS is establishing the forum as Working Group III of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) begins work to reform ISDS, a process that is expected to last several years. The Forum is designed to bring together the world’s leading academics in this area to exchange ideas, test solutions, and making contributions to the ongoing dialogue surrounding ISDS reform.

The Forum’s first gathering is tentatively scheduled to coincide with the second meeting of UNCITRAL Working Group III during the week of April 23 in New York City.

The CIDS is a joint research center of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and the University of Geneva Law School devoted to providing a platform for high-level exchanges on cutting-edge issues in contemporary dispute resolution.

Rogers, professor of law and the Marjorie Price Faculty Scholar at Penn State Law, also serves as professor of ethics, regulation & the rule of law and director of the Institute for Ethics, Regulation & the Rule of Law at Queen Mary University of London. She is co-chair of the ICCA-Queen Mary Task Force on Third-Party Funding in International Arbitration and a reporter for the American Law Institute’s Restatement of the Law, the U.S. Law of International Commercial Arbitration.
