Students to participate in White House “Champions of Change”

Penn State Law students will participate in "Champions of Change: Winning the Future Across America," an online event organized by the White House that will feature Attorney General Eric Holder and others on October 13. The event is designed to encourage law students to augment their pro bono efforts.
“Pro bono work often involves representing an indigent person without charging a fee. But a lawyer can also take pro bono work in other ways, by representing a non-profit organization for free or by advocacy on public policy matters,” said Kate Cramer Lawrence, director of public interest programming at Penn State Law. “This event will help people explore those possibilities and maximize their impact on the community.”
Following the White House presentations, Lawrence and Assistant Dean Keith Elkin will give a presentation on the public interest opportunities available at Penn State Law. A reception will follow.
The event begins at 1:45 in the Greg Sutliff Auditorium, Lewis Katz Building, and in the Hearing Room at Lewis Katz Hall in Carlisle, Pa. While the event is designed for Penn State Law students, anyone who is interested in the role law can play in serving the public interest is welcome.
