Professor Rogers to spearhead international arbitrator transparency projectAccording to forecasters from U.S. News & World Reports and the American Bar Association, one of the largest growth areas in the legal profession is in international arbitration. But information on arbitrators and their work can be difficult to ascertain said Professor Catherine Rogers, the Paul and Marjorie Price Faculty Scholar. As a step toward resolving this issue, Rogers will spearhead a project to create an online resource giving parties access to more information for making informed decisions in the arbitrator selection process.
Judge D. Brooks Smith '76 celebrates 25 years on the benchTwenty-five years ago, Judge D. Brooks Smith was nominated to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania by President Ronald Reagan. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 14, 1988. Now, Judge Smith sits on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and brings his passion for the rule of law to judges around the world and law students at Penn State.
