Professor Mandee Baumer is an associate professor of legal writing at Penn State Law, where she also has served as a visiting assistant professor and as the writing specialist.
Before joining the faculty, she was a career staff attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She served the court at large, making recommendations on how to dispose of appeals and drafting opinions and orders for the court’s consideration. She routinely handled direct criminal appeals, employment discrimination appeals, immigration appeals, and social security appeals. She specialized in handling pro se appeals, particularly those brought by prisoners.
In addition to being an appellate attorney, Professor Baumer has worked as a legal consultant for a corporation, advising management on matters relating to employment policies and practices.
