ACLU lawyer to speak on Ashcroft v. al-KiddLee Gelernt, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) lawyer who litigated the controversial Ashcroft v. al-Kidd case in the U.S. Supreme Court, will speak in the Apfelbaum Family Courtroom in Lewis Katz Building in University Park, Pa., on October 28 at 1 p.m. The event will be simulcast to Room 104, Lewis Katz Hall, Carlisle, Pa.
Lecture series on science, technology, and the law to be held at Penn State LawPatrick McDaniel, a professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the Pennsylvania State University and co-director of the Systems and Internet Infrastructure Security Laboratory, will present “Mobile Smartphone Application Security and Privacy,” the first lecture in a series on science, technology, and the law, sponsored by Penn State Law.

Fighting for immigrants’ rights: A passion for Stacie Hunhoff '12Stacie Hunhoff ’12 is realizing her dream of helping immigrants obtain desperately needed legal help. Immigration law is notoriously complex and deadline-driven, but the need for legal help far exceeds what many immigrants can afford. Hunhoff helps address that divide as an intern at the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center, a nonprofit organization that provides legal and education resources to detained populations in Pennsylvania.
